Club Championship Presentation - Season 2015/2016
Wow, what a year Sunstate has had!
Let us take the time to recap on what we have done as a club.
DCM at Archerfield was a huge success and having the opportunity to race at Archerfield was a once in a life time opportunity for karters to race on the clay at BIS, there was some great results for the club with Heath Parker taking out 2nd place in the juniors followed by Kaleb Webb in 3rd, the Standard Class 1st Place went to Troy Evans with Matt Gordon in 2nd Stewart Campbell in 3rd and Jeff Jackson in 4th, in the Mods Shane Manning came across the line in 3rd place with “Mr Clean” Steve Smith coming 4th, in the Outlaws 1st place went to Andrew Roeser 2nd place to Shane Crisp and 3rd to Jeff Campbell and rounding out the classes with a 2nd place to Russell Williamson, 3rd place to Phil Perrott and 4th to Michael Harders in the 125 Pro Class.
We have seen Phil Perrott keep his A1 status in the 125 Pro Class and add a NSW #1 and Qld #3 to his impressive tally of title plates while we had James Eddie “Mr Slicks” take out A3 at Australian Titles in the NGB 125 Pro Class and #1 Plate at the NSW Titles.
In a rain sodden track at Lockyer Valley Speedway Russell Williamson made it back to back Qld Titles in the 125 Pro Class and #3 plate in the NSW titles at Tamworth with Dion Smith taking the #2 plate for the Qld Title and 4th in the NSW Title, in the same sodden track Kent Hardgrave took out the Outlaw #2 plate with Shane Manning taking out the #3 plate.
Matt Gordon making the trip to the NSW Titles at Tamworth took out the #3 plate in the Standard Class and having after having a bent axel Matt finished a creditable 9th place finish in the i55 after being beaten up in the early laps in the 55 lap event.
We have had some great junior results in titles over the past 12 months against some very tough and experienced competition, this has seen the standard of driving rise at club level so the club believes that we are not far away from having some podiums at junior titles, Results from the Junior Standards at the Australian Titles Kaleb Webb 5th, Cody Reynolds 6th and Juniors from the Aussie Titles Heath Parker 8th, Kaleb Webb, 10th, Zoe Smith 13th, Kyle Price 14th and results from the NSW Title 4th place to Heath Parker, The Kids Royal results in the Junior Standards saw Kaleb Webb take out 4th place and Cody Reynolds 5th place and in the Sub Juniors Max Black 1st, Kacy-Lee Black 2nd, Georgie Moller 7th, Kallan Manning 12th.
Jeremy Evans, Phil Perrott, Tony Pesut, James Eddie, Richard Mapp and Craig Turvey making the trip north to Cairns and Mareeba has seen the Sunstate take out the inaugural “Rumble in the Sun” hosted by the NQ Speedway Kart Club this will be an annual event and was much appreciated by the NQ Club as it gave them an opportunity to see where they were at with their racing and proved they could mix it so they have a bright future, the feedback from Sam Nucifora that their members love having us come up and share the kart set ups and knowledge, this has also generated interest from the locals with Sam receiving a flood of phone calls of people wanting to join, also a big shout out goes to Peter Parker and George “Jungle” Roeser for help the locals with set up and lending or giving away parts to ensure the locals could still compete.
The club has built a great relationship with Wayne Moller and the Fraser Shores Maryborough Speedway Club which has seen the Sunstate club have several race meetings including a club points round and the current Winter Series, we look forward to continuing this relationship with the Qld Titles and DCM being held at Maryborough on the 15th & 16th of October 2016.
